Landscape
Design
If
you’re like most of our customers, when it comes to your
new landscape design, patio or stone wall,
you find yourself in one of these two categories:
You know just what you want. You might have
drawn some sketches of your own, or assembled some pictures
of designs you like from magazines. Now you’re ready to
work on the details. What are your material options? How big
should it be? On our initial visit we can outline the design
right on your lawn so you can see the scale, traffic flow, etc.
When we’ve got it ‘just right’, we’ll
produce a quote from your information, with no need for a drawing.
or
You
have the outline of what you want to do (“We
need a patio!”) but are less sure of your design
options and how you want it to look. No worries! That’s
where CountryScape really shines. We have dozens of completed
projects for you to look at to help with ideas.
Even better, we have the design talent to bring your project
to life on paper before a single blade of grass gets disturbed.
With your vision and our ideas, together we’ll produce
a professional design that meets your needs and adds to your
enjoyment of your home.

Here's an example of a typical design process:
- We'll meet you at your home to discuss your ideas, and together
we'll decide if you need a Design Plan.
- If a Design Plan makes sense, we'll take photos and gather measurements
to create either an 8.5" x 11"; scale drawing (common for patios,
walkways, front entry's, etc.) or 18" x 24" scale drawings (common
for large projects, e.g., where the entire property is being designed.)
- CountryScape will credit your final invoice for Design Plan costs, up to $500, if you complete the project. Costs for drawings
start at $300 for an 8.5" x 11" drawing. (Don't worry - our No Surprises' policy means you'll know up front what a more elaborate design will cost.) The first draft of your design will usually be ready within two weeks.
- You may want to 'tweak' your design. No problem! Many times, the 'tweaks' don't require changing the drawings,
but if they do, the firstround is on us. (There might be an additional charge for a second round, depending on how extensive it is.) When
you're happy with the design, CountryScape will produce a guaranteed quote, including everything from start to finish, for your project.
With your approval, we'll add your project to our schedule. In any case, if we've produced a paid design for you, you own it!

Here are some examples of our designs. Your landscape plan will
be a professional, detailed scale drawing of your project, either
hand drawn or produced with a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program.

This project, in Shelburne, MA, addresses traffic flow and elevation changes, creating usable
space within an "English Country" inspiredplanting design.
The design was based on the client's desire for a strong hardscape foundation, using Sugarledge Stone flagging and
wall stone, and to highlight their passion for perennial gardens. |

Our customer wanted a master plan for entertaining in their backyard. The grade changes swiftly from level at the driveway to
six feet above level at the rear entrance to their home. The design solves the grade challenges, while incorporating a variety of intimate
spaces and gateways, including a bluestone patio with fireplace and a composite deck with quarter moon pergola. |

The goal of this design was to create a space for the customer to entertain and relax. We designed a flat, open area with planting
beds along the fence line and deck, to soften the harsh lines and create some depth. A circular paver
covered patio area anchors the design and provides a pleasing contrast to the existing angles in the landscape. |

The challenge : A new home on a cleared lot. No problem for CountryScape - we love starting from a 'blank slate'! The customer
wanted to express their unique taste in art through their landscape
design. We created a contemporary design using linear structures
and soft shapes in the layout of the lot, spaces, and pathways.
Artificial bluestone and manufactured stone blocks, hand selected
for their uniformity, were used in the construction of the paths, patios, and
walks. Washed stone was used as 'mulch' in the planter
beds to provide a more urban feel. |

Another newly constructed home, this time in Conway, MA. Cues
taken from the architecture of this classic New England home
influenced the design of a curved, freestanding Ashfield Stone wall
and brick paver walkway that meanders through perennial filled
flowerbeds and lawn areas. The overall design creates an intimate
and interesting entry, while still complementing the home's timeless New England charm. |
